Le Massif Racing Team
|
 | Mission Created in the ‘98-’99 season and now in its 7th year, Le Massif’s Racing Team has offered young people smitten with alpine skiing the opportunity to train in an enchanting setting. Twenty-five members strong and addressed to skiers aged 5 to 17 years, the Club’s mission is to give its young athletes the skills to reach their maximum racing potential, while developing team spirit and precious friendships.
Objective Continual improvement and the development of performance are the goals that Le Massif and its Racing Team have set, and with this in mind, an elaborate program is offered and backed by a team of qualified coaches. Learning evolves according to the age of the athlete, and everyone competes on the Skibec Regional Race Circuit.
Club Activities Our young athletes begin their training program at the end of September, during pre-season get-togethers (cross-country meets, mountain biking, hiking...). As soon as the mountain opens, the program is held both on Saturdays and Sundays, from 8:30am to 2:30pm, until the end of March. A Christmas Training Camp, as well as a one-week March Break Race Camp are also integral to the program. Activities to develop team spirit are at the rendez-vous: intra-club races, hot-dog lunches...
Financing Opportunities In close collaboration with Le Massif, the Club organizes alpine races. Skibec regional races and university races are hosted thanks to parent-volunteers. Organizing an alpine race requires many volunteers, and each family signed up with the Racing Team is required to volunteer six days out of the season. The Club raises most its financing at the Annual Golf Tournament. Furthermore, the Club’s Board of Directors has, for the past two years, developed expertise at the national level. Given the success of Le Massif and its La Charlevoix trail, speed events (Super G & Downhill) have taken place here, from the Canadian Championships and Noram Circuits. This year, athletes from around the world will be at Le Massif for the World Alpine Juniors, scheduled from February 28th to March 8th 2006.
A world-calibre event at home - here at Le Massif - generates both dreams and the desire to surpass oneself, in the heart of each of its Club members.
