Last September marked a milestone in the history of Le Massif de Charlevoix. Twenty years ago, on September 23, 2002, Daniel Gauthier purchased Le Massif de la Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, which has since become Le Massif de Charlevoix. There have been successes and challenges throughout the years of development of this magnificent mountain. It is important to take a moment, this step back, to look behind us and remember the extraordinary work accomplished since the very beginning.
Important pillars for Le Massif de Charlevoix
Since 2002, Le Massif de Charlevoix has come a long way. A remarkable and innovative journey, thanks to people with ideas, with dreams. Le Massif's evolution has taken shape according to the vision of Daniel Gauthier, who has always deeply desired to grow the mountain, while preserving its authenticity. In love with Charlevoix and motivated by the desire to give back to the region that welcomed him, Daniel Gauthier wishes to leave a unifying and lasting legacy. Through resilience and perseverance, he has been working for 20 years to develop a recreational and tourism project that is both profitable and beneficial to all. A project that will create value for our province, our country and will generate significant economic benefits for generations to come.
Claude Choquette, President of Groupe Le Massif, as well as Bernard Sansour, Senior Vice President of Groupe Le Massif, are also two important players who, with great dedication, have contributed to putting this vision on track. Over the years, they have demonstrated innovation in the Quebec tourism industry as well as on the international stage.
Promising projects for the region and Quebec
Together, Le Massif de Charlevoix's great team was able to create a balanced ecosystem aimed at promoting our unique territory. Among other things, we now boast a renowned hotel in Baie-Saint-Paul, a tourist train between La Malbaie and Québec City, real estate development at the summit and base of the mountain, a quality gastronomic offering, reliable and state-of-the-art infrastructures such as ski lifts and snowmaking systems, ski trails with remarkable conditions, mountain bike trails that have quickly become a must for enthusiasts, the longest toboggan run in North America and a magnificent network of hiking trails. We should also mention the arrival of Club Med, Le Massif's international partner, and more recently our partnership with The Mountain Collective, which has allowed us to be recognized as one of the world's most beautiful ski destinations. We can now proudly say that Le Massif de Charlevoix is a four-season destination, recognized internationally for the quality of its experience.
A promising future
This anniversary is also an opportunity to look to the future, as the coming years will be just as important for the mountain. The mission: To welcome people from here and elsewhere, to give them the opportunity to fully experience the mountain through its magnificent ecosystems and activities of pure pleasure, but also to discover the beautiful Charlevoix region that makes us both so proud. This mission is possible thanks to the people who care about the mountain and who contribute to its development in their own way every day, by working on it. Le Massif is them, Le Massif is us.
