A Successful First Season for Le Vol de l'Oiseau Mécanique

The teams from Le Massif de Charlevoix and Atelier Occhio are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the inaugural season of Le Vol de l’Oiseau mécanique, this new nighttime experience presented as a world premiere from June 23 to September 4.

Several evenings of performances were sold out throughout the summer, with the season ending with a 97% occupancy rate, confirming the public's enthusiasm for the activity.

"Our objectives have been met, encompassing attendance, audience satisfaction, and the challenge of creating a distinctive, family-friendly activity that enriches the regional evening entertainment," stated Daniel Gélinas, executive producer of Le Vol de l’Oiseau mécanique. "We’ve exceeded the expectations of an audience of all ages and backgrounds, many of whom were riding a chairlift for the first time."

As anticipated by stakeholders in the regional tourism industry and project collaborators, including the Quebec Ministry of Tourism, this new activity has resulted in overnight stays and the consolidation of visitors of all ages in Charlevoix, a sought-after region for tourists and Quebecers. Statistics also reveal significant attendance from audiences hailing from various regions across Quebec, Canada, and abroad.

While the teams are in the process of dismantling the technical elements set up on the mountain, the return of the nighttime activity is confirmed for the upcoming summer. The 2024 edition promises some new features that will be announced later, along with the operation dates.

This large-scale production has been made possible thanks to the Tourism Industry Recovery Program developed by Quebec’s Ministry of Tourism, as well as Tourisme Charlevoix (in collaboration with the Secrétariat à la Capitale-Nationale and Destination Québec Cité through the Québec 2022 call for projects for economic and tourism recovery). Le Massif team also extends its gratitude to the municipality of Petite-Rivière-Saint-François for its invaluable collaboration.
