L'appel de la montagne challenge is back
Presented by Bell Let's Talk for the benefit of regional mental health organizations
Le Massif de Charlevoix, in collaboration with the Charlevoix Mental Health and Addiction Consultation Table and Bell Let’s Talk, announces the return of the L'appel de la montagne challenge on Sunday, October 1, 2023. During this annual fundraising day, 100% of the cost of round-trip panoramic gondola rides will be donated to regional organizations working in the field of mental health.
1 gondola ride = 1 mental health donation
As the mountain displays its most vibrant autumn colors, it will become an essential meeting place for hiking enthusiasts, trail runners, and mountain bikers of all skill levels — whether solo, with a partner, family, friends, or colleagues. By taking a gondola ride, participants will contribute to supporting the projects of 6 regional organizations: Vision d'espoir de sobriété, Centre prévention du suicide de Charlevoix, L’Éveil Charlevoisien, Ressource Genesis, La Marée, and Centr'hommes Charlevoix. The amounts generated from ticket sales will be matched by Groupe Le Massif, up to a maximum of $5,000.
New Trails and Workshops for Everyone
Meet at 10 am at the tent located near the summit chalet to learn more about the participating organizations before enjoying trails suited for all tastes and skill levels. Enjoy the autumn landscapes and the unparalleled view of the St. Lawrence River.
Newly added to this year's program are educational and creative workshops aimed at introducing participants to the various hormones secreted by the brain, taking place from 10 am to 2:30 pm. In this regard, you will have the opportunity to learn about oxytocin while socializing over a hot chocolate on the Bell Terrace starting at 11 am. A DJ will be on-site to enhance the atmosphere.
The Le Button trail will also feature three workshops. The first, at the trailhead, will highlight the benefits of endorphins through physical activity. The second, led by yoga instructors against a magnificent backdrop, will teach anxiety control through breathing. At the trail's highest point, a pause focusing on gratitude and self-realization will lead to the release of serotonin, commonly known as the "happiness hormone."
Creative souls will have the opportunity to boost their dopamine levels at the mid-station of the Massif Express gondola, where collaborative finger painting works will be created by passersby of all ages. These artworks will be donated to the participating organizations at the end of the day.
At the Heart of Le Massif de Charlevoix's Corporate Mission
Sustainability has always been at the heart of Le Massif de Charlevoix's development vision. It reflects its mission to promote sharing and connection in a unique environment by offering meaningful recreational-tourism experiences that foster individual and collective well-being. Le Massif de Charlevoix's commitment to the "L'appel de la montagne" challenge serves as a source of motivation and inspiration for its employees, partners, the community, and future generations.
To maximize the impact of this commitment, four actions from the sustainable development plan will be prioritized over the next three years: transitioning to a four-season operation to ensure the mountain's sustainability, sustainable mobility, mountain accessibility, especially for local youth, and contributing to the maintenance of mental health among local residents.
